The Do's and Dont's of Playing Poker

Tonight is going to be another night of poker whether I end up at the local Indian casino or a friends home cash game is yet to be decided but regardless I thought I'd talk about a few common mistakes I always see new players making and what you can do to avoid them.

THE #1 MOST STUPID MISTAKE:
"Limping" big hands. And what i mean by that is when people don't RAISE when they have a big hand like pocket aces. You may be saying to yourself "but i can trap them!" WRONG. More times than not you'll end up seeing a flop with 5 other people each of which could hit two pair and then you'll be in big trouble with your pocket aces on the jack high flop and it will be hard to get away from your hand.
Solution: RAISE. If you have aces you want to get as much money into that pot before the flop with AS FEW PEOPLE AS POSSIBLE" Big pairs don't play well in multi-way pots.

Big mistake #2
PLAYING WITH SCARED MONEY: Come properly "rolled" to the game if you're going to play correctly you should have 15-20 buy ins for what ever game you're going to have and 50-100 buyins for what ever "tournament" you're playing. This is due to the fact that even if you're playing 100% correctly you can still lose in the short term so you need to have money available to re-buy in case you're knocked out and need to get money back from the fish(bad players)

More tips soon!

  2. I base on luck while playing poker. Using some basic logic and common sense you can win any game without preparation, unless you're playing with pros

  3. I would definitely disagree, people who say they play "according to luck" are the reason why i can make a living playing poker. Donkeys (people who play that way) are the main source of revenue to the poker economy. Don't fool yourself... learn the math and play better!
